POLICY: Florida Memorial University (FMU) accepts courses earned at other regionally accredited (or equivalent) post-secondary institutions, provided the following:
- The grade earned for these courses is a “C” or higher;
- The courses represent collegiate coursework relevant to the degree program being pursued at FMU;
- The course content, level of instruction and resulting competencies are equivalent to courses offered at FMU; and
- All official transcripts are submitted to FMU for evaluation prior to the student’s admission to the University.
A maximum of 90 credits total may be transferred to Florida Memorial University. All transfer credits used toward a degree must be approved by the appropriate Dean-and the Provost.
PROCEDURES: The Registrar’s Office, in consultation with the respective Dean, is responsible for verifying the content of transfer courses. Following the guidelines published by the American Council on Education or the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, the verification process of transfer courses may include a review of catalogs for the institution which the course was taken, course syllabi, and certified copies of military documents.
The student will be notified of the status of his/her transfer credit request. Transfer credits will be posted to the student’s transcript at the within 30 days of final review.
