POLICY: Florida Memorial University will accept bequeaths, trust agreements, and insurance policies from donors as long as by doing so it does not knowingly jeopardize the donor’s or university’s interest.

PROCEDURES:

  1. Florida Memorial University seeks the advice of legal and/or insurance counsel in matters pertaining to its planned giving and insurance programs. All prospective donors are advised to consult their own attorneys, insurance agents and tax advisorsĀ in any and all aspects of their proposed gifts, whether by bequest, trust agreement, contract or other means. They are particularly advised to consult their attorneys and tax advisors on all matters relating to the tax implications of a gift and matters relating to estate planning.
  1. The Office of Institutional Advancement informs, serves, guides, or assists the donor in fulfilling the donor’s philanthropic wishes.
  1. All information concerning donors or prospective donors, including their names, the names of beneficiaries, the amounts of gifts, size of estate, etc., is kept strictly confidential by the University and its authorized personnel unless permission is obtained from the donor and authorization obtained from the Vice President of Institutional Advancement.
